Air Fryer Quesadilla

Ingredients

Basic Quesadilla

  • 4 large flour tortillas
Soft flour tortillas work best—they crisp up nicely without breaking.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend)
Cheese is the star; mix for flavor and meltability.
  • Optional fillings:
    • Cooked chicken, beef, or shrimp
    • Sautéed onions or bell peppers
    • Black beans or corn
    • Jalapeños for heat

Optional Garnishes

  • Sour cream
  • Salsa or pico de gallo
  • Guacamole
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients

  1. If using meat, cook and slice it into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. Shred the cheese if not pre-shredded.
  3. Wash and chop any vegetables you want to add.

Tip: Keep the filling light; overstuffing can prevent the quesadilla from crisping evenly.

Step 2: Assemble the Quesadillas

  1. Lay a tortilla flat on a clean surface.
  2. Sprinkle a thin, even layer of cheese over half of the tortilla.
  3. Add optional fillings such as meat, vegetables, or beans.
  4. Sprinkle a little more cheese on top to help everything stick.
  5. Fold the tortilla in half, creating a half-moon shape.

Cheese acts as glue for the fillings—don’t skip it!

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Preheating ensures an evenly crispy quesadilla.

Step 4: Cook the Quesadillas

  1. Place the folded quesadilla in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. Cook until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is fully melted.

Tip: Don’t overcrowd the basket; cook one or two at a time for best results.

Step 5: Serve

  1. Remove the quesadilla and let it cool for 1–2 minutes before cutting.
  2. Slice into wedges with a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Serve with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or fresh cilantro.

Optional: Sprinkle extra cheese or a dash of smoked paprika on top for flavor and color.
