Ingredients
For the Fish
- 4 fish fillets (tilapia, cod, haddock, or salmon; 4–6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped)
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: ½ teaspoon lemon zest for extra brightness
Optional Garnishes
- Lemon wedges
- Chopped parsley
- Drizzle of melted butter or garlic butter sauce
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Fish
- Pat fish fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Season lightly with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
Tip: Dry fillets help the garlic crust stick and ensures a crispy texture.
Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Crust
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and optional lemon zest.
- Drizzle 1–2 tablespoons olive oil over the mixture and stir to coat evenly.
The olive oil helps the crust brown in the air fryer.
Step 3: Coat the Fish
- Press the breadcrumb mixture onto the top of each fish fillet.
- Ensure the garlic crust adheres evenly for maximum flavor.
Tip: Don’t press too hard—just enough to coat the fillet.
Step 4: Preheat the Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Step 5: Cook the Fish
- Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, crust side up.
- Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 8–12 minutes, depending on fillet thickness.
- Fish should be opaque and flake easily with a fork, with a golden garlic crust on top.
Tip: Avoid flipping the fish; the crust is delicate and may fall off.
Step 6: Serve
- Remove the fillets carefully from the air fryer.
- Garnish with lemon wedges, chopped parsley, or a drizzle of melted butter.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides like rice, roasted vegetables, or salad.
