Simple & Delicious Avocado Toast
Ingredients (1–2 servings)
- 2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole grain, or your favorite)
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Red pepper flakes
- Fresh herbs (parsley, basil, cilantro)
- Feta or goat cheese
- Poached or fried egg
Step 1: Toast the Bread
- Put the bread in a toaster or toaster oven.
- Toast until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Tip: Brush a little olive oil on the bread before toasting for extra flavor.
Step 2: Prepare the Avocado
- Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit.
- Scoop the avocado into a bowl.
- Add lemon juice.
- Mash with a fork. Leave a few chunks for texture.
Step 3: Season the Avocado
- Add salt and black pepper.
- Add olive oil.
- Mix gently. Taste and adjust if needed.
Optional: Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, or balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
Step 4: Assemble the Toast
- Spread the mashed avocado evenly on the toasted bread.
- Add toppings you like:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Poached or fried egg
- Feta or goat cheese
- Red pepper flakes or herbs
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Eat immediately while the toast is warm.
- Enjoy with tea, coffee, or a smoothie.
