Air Fryer French Bread Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette or small loaf (about 12 inches)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings of your choice:
    • Pepperoni, cooked sausage, ham, or bacon
    • Sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions
    • Black olives or cherry tomatoes
  • Optional seasonings:
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
    • Crushed red pepper flakes for heat

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the French Bread

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise.
  3. Optional: Lightly toast the bread in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes to prevent sogginess.

Pre-toasting ensures the crust stays crispy under the toppings.


Step 2: Add Sauce and Cheese

  1. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  2. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella generously on top of the sauce.
  3. Add your favorite toppings, making sure not to overload the bread.

Tip: Keep toppings relatively thin so everything cooks evenly in the air fryer.


Step 3: Season and Prep

  1. Sprinkle optional garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes over the pizza.
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 4: Air Fry the French Bread Pizza

  1. Place the prepared French bread halves in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  3. Check at 5 minutes to avoid burning, as air fryer models vary.

Tip: If your bread is thicker, add an extra minute for thorough heating.


Step 5: Serve

  1. Remove the French bread pizzas from the air fryer.
  2. Slice into 2–3 inch portions.
  3. Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and melty.
  4. Optional: Garnish with fresh basil, extra Parmesan, or a drizzle of olive oil.
